When considering what is needed to succeed on the internet, one thing will always rise to the top of the list. The answer is very simple. Knowledge!! Without knowledge you or your business will not have a direction to follow or a chance of success. If you're really serious about your future in business, you must immediately take the time and set your goals and then pursue the knowledge necessary to accomplish those goals. Having knowledge and applying that knowledge will equal experience. If experience and knowledge are put into action you are bound to succeed in whatever aspect of life you are working on.

I always like to see how Wikipedia describes a particular subject. The following is from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

Knowledge:

"Knowledge is defined (Oxford English Dictionary) variously as (i) expertise, and skills acquired by a person through experience or education; the theoretical or practical understanding of a subject, (ii) what is known in a particular field or in total; facts and information or (iii) awareness or familiarity gained by experience of a fact or situation. Philosophical debates in general start with Plato's formulation of knowledge as "justified true belief". There is however no single agreed definition of knowledge presently, nor any prospect of one, and there remain numerous competing theories."

Expertise and Skills:

As the definition explains, (i) expertise, and skills acquired by experience or education is what its all about! It's going to require a lot of commitment on your part to make it all happen. You must take that first step and commit to getting the knowledge you need to make intelligent decisions regarding your business and future. There are no magic buttons as seen on TV. Set a realistic goal and stick to that goal and you will see results quicker that imaginable. Don't put it off another day...Start right now on your journey to acquire knowledge.

Believe in Yourself:

You must have a belief in yourself...in your mind and inner self that 1) you must increase your knowledge, and 2) commit to gaining that knowledge regardless of how long it takes. You may have an education goal that you want to finish by a specific date...that's OK. Never put a time frame on being a success on the internet. Have an open mind to continue to add to your knowledge base with online class room training and work hard to get the experience you need. This is not going to happen over night. The old saying "anything worth doing is worth doing right" is so true when your studying to better yourself and your business. There are no shortcuts. Commitment of time, money and self is important if you're really serious about your online success and future.

Complex Cognitive Processes:

Another quote from Wikipedia! "Knowledge acquisition involves complex cognitive processes: perception, learning, communication, association and reasoning. The term knowledge is also used to mean the confident understanding of a subject with the ability to use it for a specific purpose." I think this quote is well said....I can't add anything to this explanation.

There is online help that will shortened you journey to successful internet marketing. Go to Google and search for automated marketing tools, automated marketing systems and see what you can find that will help you get the knowledge you need to go forward with your marketing endeavors.

We've all been duped and ovewhelmed with the smoke and mirrors of marketing programs that come in our email boxes promising to get rich quick. Everyday I receive literally hundreds of "to good to be true" pitches that I find really offensive because these ads insult my intelligence. Common sense tells me that there is nothing in this life that is so simple that you can...just enroll, you don't have to make any phone calls, mail out anything, go to any training and just do nothing else and retire within a 30 to 90 day period. Some go so far as you say you will be sitting on some exotic island sipping some adult beverage and watching the cash roll in. What a bunch of garbage. That would be one of those "to good to be true deals" we mentioned earlier.

Commitment:

There will always be work involved to accomplish your goals and gain success in any business you're involved in. You must be commited to spending some money (do it wisely) plus devoting an incredible amount of time in educating yourself with proper techinques and implementation. If you don"t want to make such a commiment, then I suggest you do what SEO Master Butch Hamilton suggested in a seminar recently, he said "pack your computer back in the box it came in and send it back to the manufacture". Don't waste anymore of your time or money on this endeavor. If this is your mindset, then don't waste the time of professionals marketers either.

However, there are legitimate companies out there who have designed an all inclusive marketing system that is afforadable, easy to use and one of the most important feature is the free live online training in their VoIP conference rooms. Opt-in Leads and Real Time Leads generated in your own marketing system can help rocket your website(s) to new heights that you never imagined could be possible.

I like to use Wikepedia...the free encyclopedia to offer their view on the true meaning of various marketing terms. I searched Wikepedia and found some interesting content regarding sales leads. My goal was to accurately understand the difference between Opt-in and Read Time leads.

Differences:

"Differentiators between Opt-in Leads and Real Time Leads are timeliness, cost and how they are used. Often, Opt-in Leads are approximately 72 hours old – Real Time Leads are seconds old."

Opt-in Leads:

A good quality Opt-in lead should include the persons name, email address and in some cases a phone number. With a viable name and email address you can contact the individual or business with your current method of follow-up. A phone call is the most positive method of follow-up, however, use what ever method of follow up that has been effective for you. As stated above the Opt-in Lead is much cheaper to generate than a Real Time Lead, so as a business person you must make the determination of which kind of lead and what cost you are willing to expend for such a lead.

Use Both Opt-in and Real Time Leads:

As a small business owner you may opt to generate both kinds of leads and compare which is the most productive and cost effect in your particular business.

Using the phone for follow-up will always be the best method to get the highest conversion ratio of leads to sales on any type of lead you may purchase or generate.

Links and back links are extremely powerful with the search engines.  This is an excellent way to incorporate one more tool in your bag of marketing tools without costing you a lot of money.
